What is AI search (GEO) and SEO?

More people finding you, whether they search on Google or ask an AI assistant. AI search means tools such as ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Microsoft Copilot, which answer a question directly instead of showing a list of links. GEO (generative engine optimisation) is the work that helps those tools understand your business, describe it accurately and mention it when people ask about what you do. SEO (search engine optimisation) does the same for Google's ordinary results, and most of the work helps both. We fix the technical basics, make sure your business details are consistent everywhere, and help you publish pages that answer real customer questions. We report on enquiries and visibility, and we do not promise rankings, because nobody honestly can.

What this means for you

In everyday terms, this is what changes when GEO and SEO are done well.

  • When someone asks ChatGPT, Copilot or Google for a business like yours, you are more likely to be in the answer, and described correctly.
  • Your services, prices, areas and opening hours say the same thing everywhere, so AI tools do not guess or repeat old details.
  • The same work helps your ordinary Google results, so you are not paying for two separate jobs.
  • You get a short monthly report in plain English: what AI search and Google say about you, what we changed and what it brought in.
  • You always deal with a real person on our team, who explains what we are doing and why.

Questions

What is AI search?

More and more people ask an AI assistant instead of scrolling through search results: ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, Perplexity, Microsoft Copilot and Gemini. These tools read the web and give one written answer, often naming a few businesses. AI search is that kind of answer, and GEO is the work of making sure your business is in it and described correctly.

What is the difference between SEO and GEO?

SEO helps your website appear in search engines such as Google. GEO, generative engine optimisation, helps AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity find accurate information about your business and mention it in their answers. Much of the work overlaps: a fast, clear, well-structured site with useful answers helps both, so we do them together.

Is GEO just a new buzzword?

Partly it is a new name for good, honest SEO. What is new is that AI assistants summarise rather than list, so clear facts, consistent business details and pages that answer real questions matter even more. We explain what we change and why, in plain English, and skip anything that is just hype.

Can you make ChatGPT recommend us?

Nobody can promise that, and we will not. What we can do is make the facts about your business easy for AI search to find, check and repeat accurately, then show you how the answers change over time.

Can you guarantee first place on Google?

No, and be wary of anyone who does. Search engines and AI assistants decide what to show. We do the work that makes your business easier to find and trust, and we report honestly on what changes.

How long before SEO makes a difference?

Technical fixes can help within weeks. Content and local visibility usually build over several months. We agree what to measure at the start so you can see progress.

Do you work on websites you did not build?

Yes. We start with an audit of your current site and tell you what is worth fixing and what, if anything, is worth rebuilding.
